Falling

This is a proud moment! I scanned leaves onto fabric about 10 years ago, when I got my first scanner. Didn't know about prepping the fabric so the ink would 'take' and the picture be bright, so it was dull and boring in appearance. It has made move after move, been unearthed, sunk to the bottom of the UFO pool over and over...But I have grown and learned and when I dug it out again a few weeks back I had the tadah moment!  I sliced one fabric sheet into strips and sliced the other to receive the weaving, creating a nice subtle background. I then appliqued the batik leaves on top for vavoom, then stitched that, sandwiched with a thin batting. onto the batik gold and brown fabric. I fringed the edges of the woven fabrics.  A UFO no longer! It's nearly a miracle!

My first Home and Garden Show

Amazing how much 'stuff' I can stuff into a 10' by 10' slot! Not a lot of 'shoppers' at today's Home and Garden show...but my very supportive Mom-in-Law came to see me, so it wasn't a bad day!  Also, two very nice ladies signed up for classes, so I have that to look forward to. Hopefully there are a lot more people tomorrow, if for no other reason than it makes the day go faster! Interaction with the people is the 'pay off' for working all alone in my quilt shed for weeks! :?}

Fabric Boxes

A selection of fabric storage boxes I am making, and using! The pen and pencil holder on the left is weighted with a mini pillow, filled with bird grit, placed in the bottom of the container as ballast.

Thread Painting and water coloring

I am thread painting the pines, then playing with watercolor pencils, water, paint brush and spray bottle of water to enhance/change the sky.

Moon Rising

A couple of summers ago, I made and sold this wall hanging, Moon rising. Hand dyed fabrics.

Mini-Lakes

Sorry for the glare on Winter Silence...I didn't use a flash, but the window still had its way with the reflected light. And the three mini-lakes are all 3 1/2" x 5", even if the photos don't seem to agree on their size!

The Seasonal Lakes are done...

I have now completed the 4 seasons of lake series. The first is Winter Silence, the second is Fiery Fall, the third, Summer Blues. The sail boat is in honor of my 'sailor' who is married to a woman who has no need to go sailing-and you can't make me!
I created these lakes as a 'color as mood' series. I tried to stay with one colorway each that evoked the season's personality to me.

Summer Promises

I began with a photo taken near my home, printed it on photo canvas, thread painted the balsam and fence post. I made a balsam applique to bring the flowers off the canvas onto the background. The background fabrics are my hand dyes layered over a second white fabric, layered over cotton batting, and all stretched over the artist's frame. I am having fun now!!!

Some closeups of this photo/thread play method were requested on another forum, so here you go!

Froggy Baby

Frog Quilt, baby-size, quilted with 'froggy' words. I have INNUMERABLE unfinished quilts all waiting in line to be finished, but one day I just wanted to play, do something quick and easy, bright and cheerful. The rest is froggy history!

Frolicking Fantasy Felines

My Fantasy Felines are frolicking in a large baby quilt. I did the quilting in a primary-colors variegated thread. Nothing quiet or tasteful about this quilt...I love it!

French Blue Baby Quilt

I finally gave in, after all these years of storing and savoring my French Blue fabrics, and used some of them with a new piece found last month at a new quilt shop. I still haven't found something worthy of using my actual French pieces, given to me YEARS ago by my French pen pal when we met in Lyon, France at the International Quilt Show.

A few months back I checked out approximately 30+ books from the library, mostly quilting, all varied styles, to get my creative juices flowing. One of the most fun books/styles was Susan Carlson's Serendipity. I fell in love with the fishes!  Mine are not nearly as pro and 'tight' in design as Susan's, but man! They were a hoot to build! I imagine my Fantasy Fish are happy swimming in my Fantasy San Juans (which were inspired by another author on landscapes, and darn if I can recall her name!)
One fish left. $20, plus actual shipping cost. Email weber.lindy@gmail.com for more info
